Today’s email is a follow up to the “Seek and Ye shall find” email I sent out a little bit ago.
I have heard from several people that started receiving these emails some variation of the following “Aren’t you going to run out of ideas?” or “Where do you come up with all these emails?”
At first I thought it was going to be really difficult, but then I found out it is really easy (I am finding the hard part is keeping myself/the ideas organized).
Ideas pop into my head all the time. I am constantly thinking of ideas for the next one, the next one and the next one after that. In fact, today I had several in mind and just picked this one because I remembered sending out the “Seek and Ye shall find” email recently.
While there may be a small part of me that wants to believe that the reason they come easy and I have so many ideas is because of my own brilliance, exceptional attitude, general charmingness or some other trait that is specific to Jake, but I just don’t believe that is true.
I was thinking of this and thought of a good analogy. Remember when you got your current car (or substitute any other major purchase). Before getting your teal 2003 Ford Taurus, you didn’t really notice any other teal 2003 Ford Taurus’s. But after getting the car (or maybe while considering it) you started noticing them everywhere.
I think this is how your brain works to give you whatever you are asking for in your life.
Looking for daily attitude email ideas….they pop up everywhere.
Looking for an opportunity to improve your skills….Sheryl just bought a bunch more books.
Looking to lose weight….why are all these vegetables calling my name?
Looking to start excercising….is it just me or is Gold’s Gym advertising a lot?
So, this begs the question. What are you looking for? Might be some clues in what you notice around you.
Noticing others with a bad attitude….maybe yours needs an adjustment.
Nothing but bad news on the radio….maybe you are listening to the wrong station.
Nothing but impatient, bad drivers on the ride home…..maybe there is one staring at you in the rear view mirror.
Take a minute to think today about what you are really seeking in your life. I can promise you that whatever you seek, you will find. Better make sure it is something you really want.
Jake
Wonderful analogy, JD! I couldn’t agree more..
