I have been listening to the Earl Nightingale Direct Line audio series again. I would highly recommend it.
Saved it here: mavnasstuffAudiobooksDirect Line – Earl Nightingale
In it he mentions Dr. Emmet Fox and some of his good books/concepts, so I decided to search for a quote to inspire a daily attitude email and I found this one:
“It is the food which you furnish to your mind that determines the whole character of your life”
Another life lesson I have learned through writing these emails is exactly what Dr. Fox is talking about. The fact that I spend a couple of minutes (at least) every day looking for and reading positive/motivational thoughts to write about feeds my mind with the kind of mental food that will result in positive long term results.
It has also made me look at other things that I am feeding my mind.
Do I really need to watch that TV rerun? Do I really need to read that negative bit of news I saw on msnbc.com?
But the better part is that I have found it much easier to focus on the positive things I am feeding my mind. Made me more open and reminds me to pay closer attention when the potential for good mental food presents itself.
I find myself much more attentive in church on Sunday.
I find myself much more interested in reading and learning and growing.
I find myself able to make room to read and look for content for these emails.
Think about yourself and how you are feeding your mind.
Eat a lot of junk food?
Feed your mind a lot of negative material?
Remember that the food you feed your mind determines the whole character of your life and make a concerted effort to shape the character of your life for the better.
