Today’s email is a follow up to yesterday’s email.
After reading that CS Lewis quote again and sending yesterday’s email, I couldn’t stop thinking about it.
“Miracles are a retelling in small letters of the very same story which is written across the whole world in letters too large for some of us to see.”
And guess what happened. That is all I saw everywhere yesterday. Miracles.
Watching Maggie, Annie and Meaghan play outside was seen as a retelling of the grand story of motherhood and the joy that children bring to the lives of others (especially their mothers).
Talking to a class at ISU was a reminder of the story of young, eager minds wanting to become adults in a world they haven’t experienced yet.
Getting Annie to go potty on the big girl potty was a retelling of the story of proud parents everywhere.
Rolling down my car windows and breathing in the fresh air was the retelling of man’s never ending amazement at God’s amazing creation and our little part in it.
The fact that I was thinking about miracles and the larger story gave me a totally different perspective on the little events in my life yesterday. Think about that. Some people don’t believe in miracles.
Maybe this is what they would have seen:
Two little girls getting dirty and not listening to their mom as well as they could have.
A bunch of “punk kids” who don’t know how easy they have it.
A long wait for a little girl to go to the bathroom. Boring and gross…..sounds like fun.
Spring. All that brings is mud and rain storms.
Today was definitely an eye opener for me. How many miracles have I missed out on over the years because I was too busy seeing the negative side of the story? Too worried about what might go wrong or too worried about myself to notice all the greatness around me.
How many miracles did you see yesterday? If you didn’t see any, you might want to change what you are looking for and at.
Start looking for life’s little miracles. I bet your day will be a little brighter.
