I’m considered by my friends to be a wealth of information. I’m not bragging…. if you ask any of them, they’ll tell you so. In fact, they refer to me as a storehouse of information. Unfortunately (for me and them), they also accurately include the word “useless” in there, my official title being the “Storehouse of Useless Information.” Need to know who sang “Pop Muzik” back in the 80s? I’m your guy. Want to know every member of He-Man’s vast network of allies? I got you covered. Trying to quote a line from a TV show or movie? Look no further. Need help with a quadratic equation? <sound of crickets chirping>
Because of this moniker, I find myself on the receiving end of a lot of random questions. It used to be fun, but these days, I feel like people might just be acting a bit lazy. With the ubiquitousness of smart phones and the sheer amount of information available on Google and Bing, my storehouse doesn’t really need to be accessed as often as it is… Ever find yourself in the same position? Maybe you have a colleague who prefers to just come and ask you for the answer, rather than looking it up on their own? Well, here’s a fun way to get your point across. It’s a web site called “Let Me Google That for You” and is located at www.lmgtfy.com. You type in the question and it automatically creates a link which you can then send to the offender. It takes them to the site, where it shows an animation of the question being typed into Google and an answer popping up. It’s fun, but still manages to make a point. Give it a whirl yourself the next time you find Curious George asking you one question too many…
